AutoChart Pro

This training DVD goes into great detail showing you how to become an expert using Humminbird's AutoChart and AutoChart Pro software. I show you how to build accurate and complete contour maps that you can use for analysis and to load in your Humminbird unit.

Although there is good documentation and information included with AutoChart, many people learn better by actually watching someone else go through the system, step by step.

Also, as with all software products, there are some quirks that are hard to figure out. I will keep you from feeling frustrated by showing you best practices. You are probably not going to have to call Humminbird support very much after watching these videos.

Finally, I will share some of the best practices for making and organizing recordings that will ensure that you get the best results.

Contour Map

This contour map uses colors along with contour lines to help visualize the depth changes.

3D Contour Map

This a 3D rendering of the last slide and it has been rotated 90° and tilted.

Enhanced LakeMaster Map

Same area as the last image but with an AutoChart overlay after scanning the area. As you can see even LakeMaster maps can be enhanced.

3D Map

This a 3D rendering of the last slide. Notice that you can really see the high spots and cuts in the dam.

Side Image Mosaics

This recording covers an entire cove. Note how the recordings follow a consistent and straight path. The training shows you how to do this and how to make the recordings so that the different paths meet at the edges.

This is screen snapshot shows the side image mosaic overlaid over the contour map. You can see how the overlay is adjusted with the verticle slider bars on the left and right.

Adjust for varying water levels

It is important to know the water level of the area you are importing into AutoChart. This is because ...
  • Your Humminbird unit can adjust up or down from normal pool and you want your maps to be built at this normal pool level.
  • You might make recordings at the same water body at different times. With rivers and reservoirs the level can fluctuate, which would make for some messy charts if this is not accounted for.
